Four Dental Questions for Doctor Dave

Kirkland dental crowns

Well my little Baby Teeth, it is time once again for another thrilling edition of Ask Dr. Dave. I have a special treat for you today, as I will be answering some fairly common dental questions that most people do not even think to ask. Now you do not need to ask, because I have the answers for you right here.

1. I am having a hard time finding a dentist. Can you help?

Finding a dentist can be something of a tricky thing. A lot of the times people do not get a report with their dentists like they do with their doctors. My suggestion is to look online. Finding a dentist or two that are closest to you is a start, but from there do a little research. See if they have reviews, see what people have to say about them. And do not be afraid to switch dentists if you did not click with one. You should never feel obligated to stick with one if you did not like his bedside manner.

2. What are porcelain veneers for?

These babies are for when tooth whitening will not cut it. They are actual little pieces of porcelain that have been created specifically to fit each individual tooth. Once their on, your smile will be whiter than ever before. And with proper care, they can last you nearly 15 years.

3. How often should I get professional dental cleaning?

The standard answer is twice a year, every six months. That being said, your personal dentist may feel otherwise for one reason or another. If you are not that good of a brusher, or do not floss regularly, you may need to make it three, or even four times a year. Most dental insurance covers at least the two. Just talk to your own dentist to see what they recommend. And be sure to stick to the schedule!

4. What is a cosmetic dentist?

Cosmetic dentists are the dentists that put on those porcelain veneers that I mentioned earlier. They also do tooth whitenings and dental implants, among other things. While your regular dentist is all about oral hygiene, treatment, and prevention, the cosmetic dentist is all about making your smile as perfect as possible on an aesthetic level.

There you have it, folks! No need to feel embarrassed asking these question anymore. Now you know. And while we are on the subject, when is the last time you went to the dentist? Until next time, have an apple. Helpful research also found here: Dentist kirkland
